Candle Light Castle Mystery Tour

Candlelight Tour at Fort Nisqually

On your tour, you will encounter re-enactors portraying the laborers, servants and gentlemen and ladies of the venerable Hudson's Bay Company with only the stars, campfires and candles to light the evening! Traveling through the fort, these people from the past won't be aware of their 21st century visitors. To them, tour groups are merely spirits from the future. Pierce County Hunger Walk
First Christian Church, 6th & Orchard St, Tacoma

Join nearly 1,500 of your friends, family, and congregation members on Saturday, October 10, 2009 as we walk to raise money for hungry families, children, and seniors in our local and global communities. The Pierce County Associated Ministries Hunger Walk is the largest walk for hunger in the Pacific Northwest and generates the largest contribution to local food banks in the Tacoma-Pierce County area.

Empty Bowls

2-5pm. Empty Bowls is a project that offers the arts and anti-hunger communities a rare and unique chance to unite their efforts. The MetroParks Foundation, West End Neighborhood Council, and Emergency Food Network have joined together to host this event and help fill some of the “empty bowls” in Pierce County. Pacific Northwest Potters, volunteers throughout the arts community and emergency food system, the Tacoma Weavers’ Guild, local students, local restaurants and many more caring individuals work together each year to make this event a success. Come and pick out one bowl - or ten - and matching placemats, and then join us for a bowl of soup served by some of the best chefs in town. Bowls are $10 each, placemat prices vary, and soup is served (in a separate bowl) with each purchase.

Historic Fort Steilacoom Immersion Living History Event
9601 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood (on the grounds of Western State Hospital)
10am-4pm. This year’s event will seek to recreate life on the post during the days of October 17-18, 1859 as we continue to commemorate the days leading to the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War. While most of the fort’s personnel are away at San Juan Island at the tail end of the “Pig War” crisis, a small skeleton crew remains on site in addition to the civilian contractors and families of the post. The post will be open to the public, but re-enactors will man the post for 28 hours straight and will engage in period first-person character the entire time.

Haunted Hayride 2009

Our museum guides will take you on a journey through our galleries and exhibits which will include photos of the most horrific characters of all time.
